Annual Fund

A letter, from our MDS Annual Fund Committee,

 Dear Mizzentop Day School Supporters,

Imagine being the parents of Albert Einstein, Abraham Lincoln or Eleanor Roosevelt. When each of these now famous people was three years old, or ten years old, could their parents have had any clue how successful their child would be – that many, many years later they would be considered significant people in history? Probably not.

Very few children will become Einsteins, Lincolns or Roosevelts. However, all children can become thinkers, learners and doers, as these very influential people were.  With a major component of our mission being to create within students a life-long love of learning, our goal is to encourage our students to be outstanding thinkers, consummate learners, and active positive doers.

The requirements to accomplish this lofty goal include committed faculty and staff, supportive parents, a proven program of academics, and the financial resources to support this. While a good portion of our financial resources come from tuition and fee revenue, like almost all independent schools, we rely on tax-deductible charitable donations to provide at least 10 percent of the financial resources required. This does not come strictly from parents. In recent years, grandparents have become major contributors to our program, and past parents and other “friends of the school” help out as well. It is through this combined effort that our school is able to provide the level of education that we do.

As a parent committee of four representing all grade levels from Junior Pre-K to Eighth Grade, we ask for your help. Our 149 students deserve the very best to become the thinkers, learners and doers that we want them to be. Your support is crucial. Last year, thanks to your help and the help of many others, we surpassed our Annual Fund goal. During times of economic stress, this says an awful lot about what our families and others think of Mizzentop Day School. With a goal of $50,000 this year, we urge you to support our efforts and, in doing so, support our students.

A remittance envelope is enclosed for your convenience. Contributions by credit card are welcomed. Pledges to be paid throughout the school year are welcomed as well.  And, of course, if you would like to talk with any one of us regarding the Annual Fund, please do not hesitate contacting us.

We thank you in advance for your support.

Sincerely,

Dana Mills
