Library

Currently holds 11,750 volumes, all cataloged through our 'Destiny-OPAC' (Online Public Access Catalog) system. Access to this is available on every MDS computer.

 

Students:

We currently enroll about 150 students who come from over a dozen surrounding communities, most of which provide busing to and from school, and who are admitted without regard to race, color, religion, or national or ethnic origin.

 

Living Values Program:

Our Living Values Program is integrated into our environment, curriculum, and whole school programming. The integration of this program into all areas of school life provides a safe and respectful atmosphere for optimal learning and personal development, enhancing a deeper experience and understanding of 12 universal values: Peace, Respect, Responsibility, Unity, Happiness, Freedom, Tolerance, Love, Cooperation, Simplicity, Humility, and Honesty.

 

Inter-Scholastic Sports

Students in Grades 5 - 8

Fall: JV and Varsity Soccer (Coed) and Field Hockey (Girls); Winter: JV and Varsity Basketball (Coed); Spring: Boys Lacrosse and Girls Lacrosse

Over 30 faculty and staff members holding a collection of advanced degrees and state certifications.

 

Additional Care Programs:

  • Before and After School Care Programs.
  • Day Care on most holidays.
  • Spring Break and Summer Academic and Recreational Programs are available.

Clubs/Activities (as requested):

Book Club, Knitting, Reading Buddies, Student Council, Student Ambassadors, Art Clubs, Garden Club, Rock Ensemble, Run for Fun, and Odyssey of the Mind team.

 

Lunch

Nutritionally-sound hot lunches and salad bar are served daily, and are included in the tuition. Students sit at mixed-age tables with a faculty member. A variety of healthy snacks are also available to students in Grades K-8 for purchase before school every day.

 

Finances

  • A tuition that is one-third (33%) less than the National Association of Independent School’s average for K through 8 day schools.
  • Tuition that is less than half (55%) of the average tuition for New York independent K-8 day schools that are NAIS members.
  • Limited, need-based financial aid is available.

 

 Mizzentop Day School is accredited by the New York State Association of Independent Schools.
